Welcome to the upcoming IAHR-Asia 2025! Here's important information regarding visa requirements for your travel to South Korea, focusing on entry through Jeju Island:
  1. Visa-Free Entry to Jeju Island:
    • Eligible Countries: Travelers from most countries can enter Jeju without a visa for up to 30 days if arriving directly by international flight or ship.
    • Restricted Countries: Currently, citizens from countries such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Cuba, Syria, Iran, and several others are not eligible for visa-free entry to Jeju. Please consult the Jeju Visa-Free Entry System for a complete list of eligible and restricted countries.

  2. Direct Flights to Jeju from China:
    • Cities with direct flights include Beijing, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nanjing, Shenyang, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Fuzhou.
    • Airlines operating these flights include Juneyao Airlines, Spring Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, China Eastern Airlines, and Air China.

  3. Transiting through Mainland South Korea (Incheon/Gimpo/Gimhae Airports):
    • If you transit through Incheon, Gimpo, or Gimhae airports to reach Jeju, you will need a visa, as the visa-free policy for Jeju is not applicable.
    • Contact the nearest South Korean embassy or consulate to apply for a tourist visa. Required documents usually include a passport, a visa application form, a recent photo, and confirmation of your conference registration and accommodation. If there are any documents required for visa issuance, please request them in advance from the conference organizers.

  4. Visa Application:
    • Apply for your visa well in advance of your travel dates. For detailed requirements and the visa application process, visit the official Korean Visa Portal at Korean Visa Portal and https://www.ketasouthkorea.com/visa-to-jeju-island.
    • For the most accurate and detailed visa requirements, please check the official Korean Visa Portal or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea at Korean MOFA.
    • Please allow sufficient time for visa processing, as processing times can vary significantly between countries. Check with your nearest South Korean consulate for estimated timelines.
We are excited to welcome you to IAHR-Asia 2025 and hope you have a pleasant journey and a productive stay. If you need further assistance, please contact the conference secretariat (h_kim@korea.ac.kr).
